Instructions for Use and Care of White Polystyrene Soap Molds

Pouring Temperature: These Soap Molds have been tested with glycerin temperatures to 180 F without warping. It is however recommended to pour at 160 F to 170 F or as low as possible to increase the Molds life.

When pouring M &P glycerin soap into plastic molds it is important to use a proper thermometer to ensure that the temperature is within the recommended range.

Pouring and unmolding: These molds are designed to allow you to pour whatever weight you want up to the stated maximum .We recommend filling the mold to within 1/8 inch to ¼ inch from the top. When the soap is ready to release place the mold on a flat surface with the cavities downward, and press down steadily on the top centre of the cavities. Because of the extra space left in the mold the soap will be released. This method is easy on the mold as it has full support on the flat surface and will extend the life of the mold. If the soap sticks and you have extra space in the mold you can lightly rap the mold squarely against a flat surface repeatedly until the soap releases. This method has a lot of force and should release stubborn soap. This however could reduce the life of the mold.

Some of our molds have a ¼ inch perimeter support adding strength to the mold. With these molds it is not necessary to leave a space in the cavity.

  • If you are casting melt and pour soap leave the soap in the mold for up to four hours at room temperature before removing soap. Also you may place the molds with the soap in the refrigerator for thirty minutes to one hour. After removing it let it sit for five to ten minutes, (To warm the mold) then remove the soap as above. This method is usually quicker and easier. When the molds are refrigerated it is imperative to let the molds warm or they may crack.

  • If you are pouring cold or hot processed soap, it is recommended to let the soap stay in the mold as long as necessary, usually 18-24 hours but even several days if necessary.
The soap must stay in the mold until it is solidified and then unmold as above.

Avoid excessive force when unmolding your soap. Be patient as most soap will unmold easily when it is ready.

Cleaning the Molds: Rinsing with warm water is all that is required. You may wash the molds in warm soapy water if necessary to remove any left over residue.
